Off of work due to pain in leg/back

Okay, I wanted time to do more writing and finish editing my NaNo novel. I guess the "universe" listened because after slipping while getting on a bus to go to work last week I "did" something to my back. It is painful to walk more than a few feet. MRI this afternoon but probably just need to rest/ice/rest. Took this week off of work and next week is my vacation! *sighs*
I have been writing more but only for short sprints due to pain if I sit too long. My new obsession which has nothing to do with writing is Dr. Who (the one with David Tennant as The Doctor). Thanks to my daughters who "made" me watch it and now I am hooked. I can ice my back, stretch out on the couch and ta dah, Dr. Who magically appears!

Editing continunes

I wanted to finish the editing on my NaNo novel but the ending is eluding me. So I decided to write more and keep going with it. I am enjoying the process.

First Edit Done!

I have gone through my NaNo novel twice now. The first time I was looking for plot errors (I found a few) and the second edit verb tense. I realized that although I wrote the majority of it in past tense, I used too many present tense verbs. It took me three days to "fix" the verb tense. I looked at "ing" words and changed them to "ed" words. It is now just over 57K. It is by far the longest novel I have ever written! I am proud of myself 1.) for writing such a long novel and 2.) for trying to write something I had never written before (YA fantasy). I looked back at my outline and realized that my finished version is NOTHING like what I had in mind. This is because my main character has led me down roads that I either did not or could not envision back in October. My next job is to have a couple of people read it and tell me what they believe I should "fix" or where the story bogs. I am in the process of looking for an agent for it. I already have the second book in this series plotted out in my head. I can either make this one longer or start the new one...hmmm.

NaNoWriMo Musings

I entered the month of November with trepidation. Would I be able to write an entire novel of 50K in one month? I didn't have an outline until the end of October. Much to my surprise I started writing and did not stop! I ended up at just over 52K and the novel was not yet completed. I started editing it as soon as NaNo was done and am still editing it. It's now over 56K. It's my first attempt at writing YA fantasy and I loved doing it!
